Lydney Junction Renovation Programme
In August 2018, the DFR Society embarked on a programme of tidying sessions at Lydney Junction. This valuable station site has been used mainly for storage of various items in recent years, and as a result is not as aesthetically pleasing as we would like. This Renovation Programme hopes to change that, by tidying up Permanent Way materials such as expired sleepers and chairs, scrapping items that are no longer required, and working out long-term plans for the many unrestored vehicles that reside in sidings at the Junction.
We are running monthly clearance sessions, so why not come down and help out? Bring along some sturdy footwear and clothes you don't mind getting dirty in - we'll provide the lunch!
To find out when our next session is, check the home page for our upcoming events.
Throughout late 2018, we took a detour to Middle Forge junction to clear a variety of Permanent Way materials that had been uncovered by the Lineside Clearance team. In May 2019 we got back on with the job at Lydney Junction, making some excellent progress to clear the East Loop (on the Platform 1 side) of chairs, bricks and sleepers. One more day will see this area completely cleared - progress at last!
