Mark 2 Project Nears Completion

We were delighted to see our Mark 2 coach, M5175, re-enter traffic at the Dean Forest Railway on Saturday 1st June, following the completion of its repaint. Outshopped in British Railway's maroon livery, complete with Roundels and lining, it matches beautifully the Railway's Mark 1 BCK, 34742, which can just be seen in the right of the picture. The coach looks splendid, and hopefully this repaint not only makes it look great, but keeps its bodywork in good condition for the next few years. The repaint was undertaken at Norchard by Craig Morris Services under contract to the Society.

We are also pleased to announce that our Mark 2a (purchased from Riviera Trains last year) has been fitted with vacuum brakes and we are hoping to witness a final inspection of the braking system at Rampart Engineering in Barrow Hill within the next week! The coach will then be transported to the DFR and enter service.

Once both coaches are in service, we will announce the "Official Launch Train" to which everyone who donated to our Coach Appeal will be invited. This will be a celebration of what the Society members can achieve - without the Mark 2 appeal, we would be facing short-formed trains and very cramped conditiona at the DFR this summer. Thanks to everyone for their support with this project!
