The draw for the 2020 DFR draw has taken place, and now all of the winners have been contacted, I am happy to share the results with you!
This year we raised £5,446, which you might think is pants compared to last years record amount of £16,308.57...however of course the dreaded C word (no, not Christmas) ruined our attempts to best that by wiping out the first half of the running season, and then removing our tried-and-tested on train sale
method. Of course, I'd like to take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank-you to everyone who bought raffle tickets for digging deep into the darkest depths your pockets and supporting us in this mother-of-all years, where your gratuity went so much further than keeping the railway simply above water: it will not be forgotten, I think that's safe to say.
Anyway! Enough rambling from me! Without further ado, here are our winners for 2020:
1st prize, £250 - Dawn & Steve, Dorset
2nd prize, £100 - Mr & Mrs Lloyd, Crewe
3rd prize, £50 - Mr & Mrs Roberts, Taunton
4th Prize, £25 - Mr Roger Kent, Gloucester
I'd like to offer a huge congratulations to all of our winners, and once again continue my thanks for your support of our 2020 draw.
And on to next year...
Of course, the Society would like to hold another draw next year, but we're on the lookout for a new Draw Co-ordinator (yes, the fancy title does come free as part of the role!). Unfortunately with my paid work now at an all time high, I've not got the ability to give the raffle the full attention it needs and after three years in the role, I've decided to take a step back for 2021. It is a relatively easy way to get involved with some serious fundraising and gives a great feeling of further contributing to our railway' cause.
There is a small crib sheet on what the role entails now available, if you think you might be suited to it then please do get in-touch with me via my email address firstname.lastname@example.org! I look forward to the hordes of emails filling up my inbox soon...!
